- An inmate who escaped a minimum security "conservation camp" in Mendocino County last week has been found. - A conservation group is trying to raise $15.65 million to purchase the largest privately owned sequoia grove in California. Known as Alder Creek, the 530-acre property is surrounded by the Giant Sequoia National Monument in Tulare County. [CBS SF]
