Is it a coincidence that a power outage just occurred in the blocks surrounding the Chase Center just as the big arena is powering up for tonight's grand opening show?
AlertSF sent out an alert about a power outage in the vicinity of Third Street and Mission Bay South at 2:21 p.m. Friday, and PG&E says the outage is not affecting the Chase Center — just everything around it. "Treat impacted intersections as 4-way stops," AlertSF says. "Muni is still operational."
The latter bit is good news, given that concertgoers are going to be heading to the area in just a few hours — doors for the Metallica/SF Symphony concert open at 6:30 p.m.
PG&E has estimate power restoration will occur by 4 p.m. But obviously the incident has Twitter chattering.
