• Joe Biden has formally announced his presidential run with a sweeping, oratorical video. Speaking of Charlottesville as both the home of Thomas Jefferson and the site of neo-Nazi demonstrations, Biden goes on to say that if Trump is given eight years in office "he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation." The New York Times writes, "This is some of the starkest language we have heard from any Democratic candidate regarding Mr. Trump and the hard-right nationalists who make up part of his base." [NYT]
  • Golden Gate Bridge officials are changing the anti-theft signs they have posted in parking lots because they've been called racist. The signs depict an old-timey burglar stick figure in striped shirt (prison uniform) that critics say looks like a person of color. [Examiner]
