A homeless man wearing no clothes who ran into the southbound lanes of I-280 Thursday morning was struck and killed by a box truck.

As KPIX/CBS SF reports, the man, who has yet to be identified, was first reported as standing on the shoulder of the freeway near the McLaughlin Avenue exit around 8 a.m. Thursday. He then reportedly ran into traffic and was struck by the truck in the third lane. He reportedly died at the scene.

He's described as a man in his 40s, but no further description has been given.

The truck that struck the man swerved and hit two other vehicles, but no one else was injured.

The incident shut down three lanes of southbound 280 for over three hours as CHP conducted its investigation and the Santa Clara County medical examiner responded to the scene, per Bay City News.
