SHN SF, San Francisco's catch-all theater company for Broadway tours, announced its 2019-2020 season Thursday, and it includes recent Tony nominees and Broadway hits SpongeBob Squarepants: The Musical, Mean Girls, My Fair Lady, and Sting's The Last Ship.

Also rounding out the season slate is another San Francisco run for The Book of Mormon (March 31 to April 26, 2020), Summer: The Donna Summer Musical (December 3 to December 29, 2019), and last year's Tony winner for Best Musical, The Band's Visit (May 26 to June 21, 2020).

Sting was in San Francisco Thursday and performed for a small audience of local media, fresh from a run of The Last Ship in Toronto. The musical, with songs by Sting, is inspired by Sting's childhood growing up among the shipbuilding community in northeastern England. The show originally ran on Broadway from October 2014 to January 2015, with Sting joining the cast in its final two months.

He will also be performing in the San Francisco production when it arrives here next February.

The first show in the new season will be Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, and still to come this summer/fall are current-season shows Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, The Play That Goes Wrong, Anastasia, and Eddie Izzard Wunderbar.

You may note that all of the shows in this new slate are scheduled for the Golden Gate Theater, and this suggests that SHN is hoping to hold over Hamilton for potentially quite a long while at the Orpheum. SHN confirms that the current cast of Hamilton, which is currently scheduled to close in September, have contracts that could keep them here for up to a year, so through next February.

Five-show subscription packages for next season (not including Spongebob or Book of Mormon) range from $269 to $912 and are on sale here or at (888) 746-1799.
