As "Reveal Week" continues, the Chase Center announced the second act to open at the brand new, 18,000-seat venue in September, and it's good old 90s college rock crooner, Dave Matthews.
So far, the two acts announced for the post-Labor Day opening weeks of the Chase Center, Metallica w/the SF Symphony and Dave, skew kinda older in their fan bases, but we're awaiting six more big reveals between now and Friday, including a second announcement at 2 p.m. today.
Dave Matthews Band is hitting the road in support of their first new studio album is six years, Come Tomorrow, which was released last summer. (FWIW, Pitchfork called it "treacly" at times and over-produced, but "glimpses of the [band]’s ambitious musicianship shine through.")
Incidentally, Matthews and Metallica were the headlining acts of a wildfire benefit concert at AT&T Park back in November 2017, even though Matthews is not a Bay Area resident — he lives up in Seattle.
Tickets for the Dave Matthews Band show on September 10 go on sale here at 9 a.m. PT on April 5.
As we learned yesterday, the Metallica/Symphony concert, dubbed "S&M2," will be the inaugural event at the new arena home of the Warriors in Mission Bay on September 6. Tickets for that event go on sale to the general public here on March 22, though there was a pre-sale for Chase cardholders that starts at noon today.
