'Major Injuries' For Bay Bridge Toll Collector Struck By Caltrans Staffer

A toll collector at the Bay Bridge was rushed to an area hospital, after a driver struck him near the toll plaza Tuesday morning.

A California Highway Patrol spokesperson who spoke with the Chron says that the crash happened at around 5:30 this morning, in the parking lot next to the toll plaza.

The toll worker suffered major injuries in the collision, Bay City News reports.

According to NBC Bay Area, the collision occurred when a female Caltrans worker struck her male co-worker as he walked through the parking lot.

"A CHP spokesperson indicated that the female employee did not see her co-worker crossing the parking lot," they report., and struck him as he walked.

As of publication time, an update on the toll collector's condition wasn't available, nor were details on if the driver had been charged in the wreck.
