A woman waiting to cross Market Street with her young daughter was attacked Wednesday night, beaten as she held her child's hand.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the assault occurred at 9:26 p.m. Wednesday, on the 1000 block of Market, which is between Sixth and Seventh Streets.
Police say that the 22-year-old female victim was "standing on corner waiting to cross the street while holding her daughter's hand."
Suddenly, a man came toward the pair, and punched the mother so hard that she fell to the ground.
Once the woman fell, the man "continued assaulting" her police say, before leaving the scene.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries. The suspect remains at large, police say, and no arrests have been made in this attack as of Friday morning.
