On Sunday, the American Idol crew swung through the Bay Area sans celebrity judges to hear some local folks audition for the (is it still popular?) ABC singing competition. As local affiliate KGO shows us, Idol hopefuls came out in force in Oakland's Jack London Square, some lining up as early as 4 a.m. yesterday to sing their hearts out to producers, with the hopes of getting an invitation to audition for the celebrity panel of judges which this season will include Katy Perry at a later date.
Other auditions happened over the weekend in Portland, OR and in Florida, and more in-person opportunities can be found here. But if you know a talented future star who missed the Oakland open call, producers are also accepting online auditions.
