A bemused bank robber is on the loose in San Francisco and the feds need your help.

KRON 4 brings us news of the local bank robber dubbed the "Smiling Face Bandit" who has robbed six different Wells Fargo branches in the city since May. Throughout all of his hold-ups, the robber appears to grin as he passes a teller a note demanding money.

During four of his robberies, the bandit threatened the use of a weapon although it doesn't appear the smiling future felon brandished anything. Occasionally, the "Smiling Face Bandit" (SFB) has been known to sport a wig or hair piece during his crimes. And he's reported to be on the shorter side, standing 5'6" to 5'8" tall.

Targeting Wells Fargo branches exclusively — so far, at least — the SFB has struck on May 20, June 20, June 26, July 12, July 28 and this past Saturday, August 5.

According to KPIX 5, if you know who the SFB is, you're urged to contact the nearest FBI office or American Embassy or Consulate. You can also submit a tip online. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the SFB.

Out of personal curiosity, has anyone ever been in a bank while it was robbed? Let us know in the comments if it's not too triggering.
