The long expected closure of the big Goodwill store at Mission and South Van Ness is happening next week, on Saturday, August 12. As ABC 7 reports, Goodwill already has another store up and running to replace this one, and it's at 295 Bay Street, in North Beach.

Goodwill sold the South Van Ness property to a developer in 2014, and last year we saw a rendering of the 39-story high-rise that will be rising on the site soon. The site will eventually be home to 550 new residential units.

Goodwill's As-Is warehouse shut down last summer, and as the SF Public Press discussed at the time, its closing was a blow to the poor and homeless communities who found goods there to resell for extra income.
