An unstoppable public masturbator was sentenced this week to 16 months in jail after he was caught pleasuring himself in his car in a parking lot at the Serramonte Center Target store in Daly City. As the Mercury News reports, 44-year-old Richard Dawson of San Francisco was arrested on July 6 when officers found him masturbating in public, and he reportedly shouted an expletive at them and told them they couldn't arrest him without seeing his genitals. I'm sure you can imagine the exact phrase he used.
Dawnson's arrests for indecent exposure go back to the age of 18, in 1991, and this was his 11th conviction. Previously he had stuck to Alameda County, where all 10 of his prior convictions were eight of 10 were felonies but this time he was caught in San Mateo County, where District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe wanted the book thrown at him.
"Nothing seems to stop this guy," Wagstaffe tells the Merc.
Dawson, who is a registered sex offender, pleaded no contest to the charge, and Judge Donald Ayoob sentenced him to 16 months, with 33 days credit for time served. It should be noted that this is five times the amount of jail time that Brock Turner served for rape.
Malls seem to be Dawson's thing, and two years ago he was arrested at Southland Mall in Hayward on suspicion of exposing himself to multiple women in Fremont.
