Fire At Mission Bay Homeless Encampment Sends Dark Smoke Into SF Skies

The San Francisco Fire Department swiftly extinguished a fire at a Mission Bay-area homeless encampment, but not before the blaze sent a plume of dark smoke into the skies over the city.

KRON 4 reports that the fire broke out at around 6:45 a.m. at a homeless encampment in the area of Seventh and Berry Streets.

According to the Chron, the fire burned "several tents clustered in the area" before it was extinguished by the SFFD at 7:30 a.m.

NBC Bay Area reports that firefighters remain at the location to clean up the scene.

As of publication time, no injuries had been reported as a result of the blaze. According to the SFFD, the cause of the blaze remains unknown.
