Thieves at a popular San Francisco shopping center might be smelling a little better than usual today, after they successfully purloined some perfume Wednesday.

Police say that the heist occurred at 12:03 p.m.Wednesday, on the 2600 block of Geary Boulevard, which is the location of the City Center shopping complex at Geary and Masonic Avenue.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, two men in their 20s or 30s entered a store in the mall "and grabbed bags to shop." But as opposed to choosing items and paying for them, the men instead grabbed "several perfume bottles and then ran for the door."

A 25-year-old male security guard stepped in front of the miscreants in an effort to thwart the theft. The suspects instead "tackled" the guard, then fled the scene.

The guard was not injured in the melee, police say. The suspects remain at large, and no arrests have been made in the case.
