In a deal that makes him the highest paid basketball player in the NBA, Steph Curry just agreed to a "super max" contract extension with the Golden Gate Warriors, keeping him on the team for $201 million over four years — which means he'll be making $7 million a year more than LeBron James. As ABC 7 reports via ESPN, Curry went from being "the most underpaid superstar in all of sports" to being the highest paid in the NBA, given the much more modest $44 million four-year deal he signed in 2013, before proving his mettle as a three-point shooter and winning two MVP titles, and helping the Warriors win two NBA championships.

The deal won't be finalized until Thursday and therefore hasn't been confirmed by the team, but the Chronicle reports that Steph is set to become one of the richest athletes on the planet, and he's doing so thanks in part to the sacrifice of teammate Kevin Durant, who accepted $4 million less than he could have been paid in order to help the team retain several players who were entering free agency this month, including Curry.

Curry's payday surpasses the already crazy high salary being paid to Blake Griffin on the LA Clippers, who has signed on for a $176 million deal, and at about $40 million per year, Curry will be far out-earning rival superstar LeBron James, who makes $33 million a year.

Other deals struck late Friday by the Warriors include a $24 million three-year contract for Shaun Livingston. Already under contract are Draymond Green, who signed a five-year, $82 million deal in 2015, and Klay Thompson, who is making $69 million over four years — though he also just signed an endorsement deal with Chinese shoe maker Anta that's worth $80 million, so he's not sweating it.

Meanwhile, the Warriors may be losing Andre Iguodala to the Houston Rockets. He's also a free agent, and while it isn't finalized, Inquisitr reports that the Rockets have made Iguodala a contract offer and he has since cancelled all his free agency meetings with other teams.
