Tacolicious is expanding once again this month, only this time it's not with a new location but with a new delivery-only business through Caviar that they're calling MF Chicken. Beginning June 19, during dinner hours (4 p.m. to 10 p.m.), Caviar users will be able to order T-lish's Mexican-style rotisserie chicken, either a whole ($32) or a half bird ($17), and it comes with black beans, rice, La Palma tortillas, chopped onions, cilantro, curtido (spicy cabbage slaw), and a house-made “orange sauce” inspired by La Victoria in San Jose.
And as a bonus, during the first 10 days of the launch there will be free delivery on Caviar and a 30 percent discount on all orders.
Those keeping up with the food scene over the last few years may recall that Tacolicious owner Joe Hargrave and former executive chef Telmo Faria had schemed about opening a rotisserie place called MF Chicken in Noe Valley, but that never came to fruition. Hargrave says the inspiration for the ancho chile-marinated rotisserie concept comes out of "living in city and trying to feed my family" in a healthy way, and also from he and his wife Sara's longtime love of El Pollo Loco as well as roadside chicken stands in Mexico.
And as for the "MF" in the name, Tacolicious rep Kory Codgill tells us, "it's an old joke between Joe and Telmo. No one knows the real truth but them."
But I'll give you a few guesses.
The launch, coincidentally, comes just weeks after the launch of RT Rotisserie, the Rich Table rotisserie chicken spinoff in Hayes Valley, which is also available for delivery on Caviar.
