At least two drivers has their vehicles shot in Potrero Hill Thursday afternoon, but no one knows why or by whom.

Police say that the first shooting occurred at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, as a couple drove down the 700 block of Missouri Street, which is between 22nd and 23rd Streets.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, a 53-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were in the moving car when "six gunshots were heard." Neither human were struck in the hail of bullets, police say, "but their vehicle was damaged."

Five minutes later, at 2:50 p.m., more shots were fired — this time, at Missouri and Mariposa Streets, a few blocks from the earlier shooting.

Witnesses say they saw a man in his 20s shooting at a passing vehicle. Though responding offers were able to locate the bullet casings from the shooting, both the target and the gunman had fled the scene by the time police arrived.

As of Friday morning,no arrests had been made in either case. Police ask that anyone with information on either shooting call the SFPD anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444, or text a tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the beginning of the message.
