One individual was shot Friday morning near the intersection of Franklin and Turk Streets, a few blocks from Civic Center and not far from Hayes Valley.

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m., as the Examiner reports, and very few further details are yet known.

The Chronicle reports via SFPD spokesperson Officer Jennifer Nguyen that the victim is male, was found wounded in the area, and was taken to the hospital to be treated for his wounds. Officers "fanned out in the area" but so far no suspect is in custody.

An SFPD alert went out at 9:35 a.m. to avoid the area of Franklin and Eddy due to police activity.
