San Francisco police arrested a 26-year-old man this morning, after he allegedly attempted to force a 13-year-old girl into his car Wednesday afternoon.

San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Officer Giselle Talkoff says that the call reporting the incident came in at 5:02 p.m. Wednesday, reporting that a man in his 20s had tried to abduct the teen from the first block of Forest Side Avenue in West Portal.

Talkoff says the girl was walking on Forest Side when a man pulled up by her, got out of his vehicle, and grabbed her "trying to get her in the vehicle."

The teen "started screaming and several witnesses came to her aid," Talkoff says.

The suspect jumped back in his car and headed south on Forest Side, Talkoff says. He was identified and arrested at around 1 a.m. Thursday, police said, but did not detail how they tracked him down or where the arrest took place.

Nor did the immediately identify him, though police confirmed Thursday morning that the suspect was a 26-year-old male. Perhaps we'll learn more as the day progresses, as via tweet the SFPD has promised "More to follow later this morning."
