A seriously unfortunate looking prehistoric bird seen wandering San Francisco streets was captured after sightings in the Castro and Alamo Square areas. Such fowl — wild turkeys — are rarely seen in the city, save for on golf courses and in Golden Gate Park, although the birds are more common, and often aggressive, in Berkeley.
The turkey in question proved flighty, at first evading San Francisco's Animal Care and Control officers multiple times. Though this bird seemed more scared of humans than aggressive toward them, ACC officers were concerned that the bird was going to wander into traffic.

The creature was eventually apprehended and "is now safe and sound," Animal Care & Control wrote to their Facebook page Thursday.
"If you spot turkeys in danger, call us at 415-554-9400."
