A 21-year-old man was fatally shot in the face early Saturday near the intersection of Grant and Green Streets in North Beach. As KRON 4 notes, "The area is known for its bar scene," and the shooting occurred around the time bars would have been letting out at 1:35 a.m. Saturday.
A tipster tells Hoodline that the shooting happened in the middle of Green Street near Jasper Place, and "Two locals were there to comfort the victim in his last minutes before he passed."
Nothing further is known about the victim, or what might have motivated the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
No arrests have yet been made, according to CBS 5, and the suspect remains at large.
The SFPD asks that anyone with information about this incident contact the 24-hour tip line at (415) 575-4445 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the text with SFPD.
This is San Francisco's ninth homicide of the year following this mid-day shooting in the Bayview on February 24.
Update: The Examiner has corrected the victim's age, which was 21, not 22 as earlier reported, and he has now been identified as Fairfield resident Oswaldo Fuentes.
