After dropping anchor in the Ferry Building just over a year ago, Fort Point Beer Company is already in expansion mode, doubling the size of what's now a kiosk area operation by expanding into the now-closed Marla Bakery space. That business scaled back its own ambitions earlier this year to focus on its Outer Richmond headquarters after bringing back dinner service there.

Fort Point drinkers at the taproom can enjoy the additional elbow room right away, but over the next few months, the team will add 30 seats, transitioning the space to a full beer garden. That will remain the only taproom location of the Presidio-based brewery, the sole spot where you can grab their beer by the growler-full or enjoy pints fresh from Crissy Field along with a hot dog or several, courtesy of the Golden Gate Meat Company.

"The last year has been amazing,” says Fort Point Co-Founder Justin Catalana. “We love the Ferry Building community and look forward to serving more customers within the extended space.”

It's not just the Ferry Building taproom that's doubling in size: The brewery is on track to produce 24,000 barrels of beer this year, twice the number the amount they made last year, according to Inside Scoop. To o keep up with rapidly accelerating production, they've had to upgrade their brewery three times.

With that uptick in output, Fort Point beers like Park, a well-hopped wheat ale, or even more limited offerings like Manzanita, a smoked beer collaboration with German brewery Freigeist, aren't too hard to track down across town. Inside Scoop says they've got 650 accounts overall. Still, there's just one place where you know you'll find nothing else on tap.
