In a move that quite literally brings the back of the house to the front of the house, the acclaimed Fiasco Theater production of Into The Woods coming to the SHN Golden Gate Theatre is a re-invention of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony Award®-winning tale where all the pleasure and cacophony of the show’s production happens live on stage.
Say what? That means costume changes, musical direction and other cues are revealed as part of the show’s audience-enveloping experience. Nothing at all is behind the scenes. Oh, and there’s no narrator or formal orchestra either, so be prepared for your imagination do a bit more heavy lifting!
Abundant in its characters but selective in its casting, the production features an ensemble full of triple threats who play multiple roles as they sing, act, and play their instruments. It’s as if the players stumbled across an attic of memories, costumes, and props before producing the show on a whim.
Given the state of, well, everything, there’s no time like the present to immerse yourself in the best mashup of fairytale magic meets irreverent comedy. You’re invited to dive into a musical that explores the power of wishes and what really happens after they come true. (But seriously can we wish for some other things to come true in the real world?)
Ready to give yourself into this delightful once-in-a-lifetime experience? Into the Woods comes to the SHN Golden Gate Theatre from March 7 through April 2. Grab your tickets today!
