Civic Center Bike Thief Knocks Victim Out

An unknown suspect knocked a Civic Center cyclist unconscious this morning, all to steal the man's bike.

The victim, a 48-year-old man, was walking his bike on the first block of Grove Street, which is just off Market and Eighth Streets at 1:43 this morning, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Suddenly, police say that an unknown suspect slammed him in the head with a crowbar, knocking the man unconscious and sending him to the pavement.

When the man awoke, his bike had been stolen by his assailant, according to the SFPD.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which police say are not life-threatening. The suspect, about whom police have no details, remains at large.
