Alleged Masturbator Arrested On BART

A man who police say was masturbating while riding BART was arrested Friday, and has been banned from using the transit service for the next month.

KRON 4 reports that a woman on a Pittsburg/Bay Point-bound train called police at 10:38 a.m. Friday as the train pulled into the Pleasant Hill Station and said that a male passenger "sat across from her and started masturbating."

The train was briefly held at the station, Bay City News reports, as BART police officers arrived to take the man into custody.

The suspect, whose name has not been publicly released, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor indecent exposure, BART police spokesperson Lieutenant Randall Gregson says. He was booked into Contra Costa County's Martinez Detention Facility, and will not be allowed to ride BART for the next 30 days.
