A teen was knocked unconscious and a second was injured Thursday during a physical altercation aboard a Muni bus in the Outer Sunset.

Police say that the brawl took place at 3:10 p.m. on a Muni bus at 40th Avenue and Judah Street. While that intersection is most commonly known as the N Judah light rail line, that route is supported by the NX Express, a bus that Muni says runs during "peak hours." (A call to the San Francisco Police Department for clarification on which transit route on which the fight occurred was not returned at publication time.)

According to the SFPD report on the incident, the female victims, aged 14 and 16, were "riding the bus home" when they "got into a verbal altercation" with a group of four female and two male suspects, all aged between 15 and 17.

As the dispute escalated, members of the suspect group began to punch the victims "multiple times in the head," causing the 16-year-old to lose consciousness.

The suspects then stole the unconscious girl's backpack and "exited the bus, fleeing on foot in unknown direction," police say, near 40th and Judah.

Both of the victims declined to be transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries, which police say are not life-threatening.

According to the SFPD, all six of the suspects remain at large as of Friday afternoon. If you know anything about the case, police ask that you call SFPD's Anonymous Tip Line at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the beginning of the message.
