Actress Selena Gomez used her Instagram account to post the first trailer for Thirteen Reasons Why, a new Netflix original series based on the bestselling 2007 young adult mystery novel of the same name which Gomez says is a "passion project" of hers. Part of the series was shot in downtown Vallejo last June, as the Vallejo Times-Herald reported, and it centers on the suicide of a high school girl named Hannah who leaves a box full of cassette tapes for a friend named Clay, telling the story of why she took her life.

As Variety reports, Gomez serves as executive producer, and the series drops on March 31.

It's unclear how many episodes there are, but this could be just the latest boon for Netflix, since the trailer has already gotten 7 million views since it was posted on Wednesday.
