Breaking news: In addition to headlining Coachella this year, Radiohead has decided to swing back through the Bay Area for the second year in a row, i between their Coachella weekends, performing two back-to-back nights at Berkeley's Greek Theatre. Tom, Jonny, and the boys will be here April 17 and 18, as Rolling Stone first reported, and tickets go on sale this Friday, January 20, i.e. Inauguration Day, at 10 a.m.

The Berkeley dates are part of a mini US tour announced Tuesday which also includes early April dates in Atlanta, New Orleans, Portland, and Seattle — but the band clearly has some affection for the Berkeley Greek since it's the only stop with two nights booked, likely because they've selected a smaller venue than they usually book.

Radiohead previously performed at the Greek Theatre on their 2006 Hail to the Thief tour — and I can attest it was a pretty magical and memorable show, with fog rolling into the venue off the Bay, no fog machines required.

The band's ninth studio album, A Moon Shaped Pool, was released in May 2016, and they performed segments of it during their most recent Bay Area appearance at Outside Lands in August. The album was ensconcned on many of the year's best-of lists, landing at #10 on Pitchfork's ranking of albums of the year, and #6 on Rolling Stone's.
