People living in low-lying areas of the Russian River area in Guerneville and Monte Rio were ordered to evacuate Sunday as the river is expected to crest above flood stage Monday morning at 36 to 38 feet.

As Bay City News reports, residents are being offered shelter at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial building at 1351 Maple Avenue in Santa Rosa, and transportation from Guerneville is available from the Safeway parking lot.

A video below shows the river at 29 feet today, with flood stage at 32 feet expected to occur by 10 p.m. Sunday. Also, county officials are helping to evacuate the homeless in the area who are known to camp in flood-prone areas.

As a result of flooding of the river and various creeks, two Sonoma school districts have canceled classes on Monday. Per the Chronicle, Forestville Union School District and Harmony Union School District will shut down tomorrow.

The Russian River was just one of several expected to flood Sunday following a day of significant rainfall.

Drone footage given to ABC 7 showed the Napa River in downtown Napa cresting on Sunday afternoon.

The Truckee River was looking like it was going to crest its banks as well, in downtown Reno.

Downed trees were reported all over the city, as the Chronicle reports, and the death toll associated with the storm had risen to three by Sunday evening, including an earlier reported woman killed by a fallen tree in San Ramon, who's been identified as 56-year-old Deborah McKeown.

Also, a cab driver was killed near Oakland Airport — 57-year-old Jarnail Singh of San Leandro died after his cab plunged into the Oakland Estuary. And a motorist on northbound 880 at the Mission Boulevard exit in Fremont died in a collision around 7:30 a.m. Sunday after a period of heavy rain.
