A man ended 2016 with a bang, as police say he was caught in a fire he started near the Exploratorium Friday.
Police say the they were called to the 1000 block of Front Street, which is between Green and Union Streets, at 12:08 a.m. Friday.
When they arrived, they discovered a 43-year-old man who "was standing in fire," according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Upon investigation, police say that the man had "set fire to the ground and his shoes." He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which police say were not life threatening. After he received medical care, police say he was taken into custody, where he remains as of Wednesday afternoon.
