Bringing some saucy (and pretty gay sounding) fun to The Strand next week are The Skivvies, the Broadway duo of Nick Cearley and Lauren Molina, and their holiday revue of classics, covers, and mash-ups, "Holiday Roadkill."
As they told OUT Magazine recently, The Skivvies were born back in 2012 when the two performers decided to pull the "oldest trick in the book" for YouTube views and do their rendition of Rihanna's "We Found Love" stripped down, in their underwear. It garnered thousands of views, and as Cearley says, "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it."
Out of that grew the stage show, which they've done in cabaret venues around New York and across the country.
Their now annual holiday show features special guest performers, like in the clip above, the very naked Broadway star Nick Adams, and in the San Francisco show they'll welcome Queer As Folk's Randy Harrison.
And, Cearley promises, there will be some necessary between-song banter about the election. "We just did a show in Florida, which went to Trump [in the election], and Lauren [Molina] told a story that involved anti-Trump banter. The audience actually cheered and applauded," Cearley tells OUT.
The Skivvies will be doing only three performances on Thursday and Friday, December 22 and 23, with two shows on Friday. The Thursday night performance will include a special meet-and-greet with the performers for VIP ticket holders. Find tickets here.
