A man was rushed to a San Francisco hospital by a family member Wednesday, after a collision on a Bay Bridge ramp turned violent.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, a 21-year-old man was shot at 10 p.m. Wednesday at Fremont and Folsom Streets, near the Bay Bridge.

Police say that the victim, who had been headed west on the Bay Bridge, was rear-ended by another driver as they exited the bridge on a SoMa ramp.

Both men pulled over and exited their vehicles, police say. Then the driver of the car that struck the victim's " pulled out a handgun and shot" him, according to the SFPD.

The suspect, who police say was in his mid-20s, "got back in the vehicle and fled in an unknown direction."

The victim was driven to the hospital by a relative, for treatment of injuries police say are not life threatening. According to the SFPD, the suspect remains at large, and no arrests have been made in the case.
