Three people are dead in an apparent triple homicide that also involved a small fire at a home near the Oakland Coliseum, on the 9400 block of Dunbar Drive in the Elmhurst neighborhood. The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. when police were called to the scene after a neighbor reported hearing gunshots, as ABC 7 reports. When they arrived, they found one deceased victim outside the home, and a garage on fire. Once firefighters extinguished the fire, police say they found two more victims inside the home.
A person of interest is being questioned in the case.
Oakland police are saying the victims are both men and women, but nothing else about the victims or a possible motive is known.
Curiously, as the Chronicle reports, FBI agents were called to the scene as well for reasons unknown. Also they report that "several people" were detained for questioning, and no arrest has yet been made in the case.
