They're Going To Blow Up Another Part Of The Bay Bridge Today

Traffic will suck and bikes won't be allowed on the Bay Bridge today. Why? Because Caltrans is going to blow some shit up!

Caltrans likes using "highly controlled sequential charges" to destroy the remaining foundations of the old east span of the Bay Bridge because it leaves minimal environmental damage and also, legally blowing stuff up is awesome.

Worried about the fish swimming in the Bay beneath the explosion site? Don't be. Caltrans actually creates a "bubble curtain" near the explosion site, which pumps air in the water to keep adorable sea life away from the big boom.

The explosion could happen anytime between 11am and 1pm, depending on conditions. Rolling traffic breaks and a closed bike lane will prohibit those of us without boats from witnessing anything exciting.
