A woman walking near one of San Francisco's most tourist — and crime! — laden intersections was seemingly randomly pepper sprayed Wednesday by an angry attacker.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, it was 6 p.m. when the 25-year-old victim walked with a friend near Powell and Market Streets, which is home not only to San Francisco's iconic cable car turnaround but was the city's "most criminal block" in 2015.

Suddenly, police say, a 45-year-old man "lunged" at the woman and pepper sprayed her. Nearby police officers took the man into custody at the scene, according to the SFPD. He has been booked into San Francsico County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.

The woman was harmed seriously enough in the attack that she was transported to an area hospital for treatment, police say. Fortunately, her injuries are not considered life-threatening, and she's expected to make a full recovery.
