A guest at a San Francisco motel saved the day Monday, when he raised the alarm after spotting an illicit bonfire in the tourist attraction's garage.
According to the San Francsico Police Department, a guest in a motel on the 2000 block of Lombard Street, which is between Webster and Fillmore Streets, reported the incident at 6:45 Monday morning.
Police say that the guest saw a man in his 50s "sitting by a bonfire made from newspapers in the motel garage." Alarmed, the guest rushed to tell the motel manager, who extinguished the blaze.
The firestarter, police say, fled in an unknown direction, and hasn't been seen since.
