Oasis co-owner Heklina announced Tuesday that her SoMa club would be hosting a Hillary Clinton fundraiser hosted by none other than Cher on Sunday. And this is no typical drag scene benefit for SF either: Tickets start at $125 and go up to $5,000, and the cheapest one are already sold out. A few $250 tickets seem to remain, available here.
Of course, there's no promise that Cher is performing, and she likely won't be, but her stand-in, the very talented Rupaul's Drag Race All-Stars winner Chad Michaels, reportedly will be, along with other performers still TBA.
Says Heklina, the intent is to rally the gay community to help Clinton win the election, and "We will come together for a really cool evening with Cher and others."
Cher has been something of an ambassador to the gay community for Clinton, not that she needs one, and she also hosted a campaign event for Clinton in Provincetown in August. At the time, as the Associated Press reported, Cher attacked fellow Twitter enthusiast Trump by comparing him to actress Patty McCormack in The Bad Seed. "He's so Patty McCormack," she said, "consummate liar, doesn't care who she hurts, insane." Also, she said, "He doesn't mean we want to make America great again. He means we want to make America straight and white."
