While a legion of die-hard Gilmore Girls fans are going to tell you emphatically that Luke is the worst, the Gilmore Girls marketing team at Netflix are using his fictional Stars Hollow diner in a nationwide promotional effort this week, ahead of the series' mini reboot that goes live November 25. Temporary Luke's Diners will be popping up all over according to a press release and serving free coffee on the morning of October 5, including several in the Bay Area.

Participating cafés are as follows:

  • Hive, the Place to Bee - 2139 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland, CA 94602
  • Awaken Cafe - 1429 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94612
  • Palio Cafe - 505 Montgomery St #1, San Francisco, CA 94111
  • Caffe Frascati - 315 S 1st St, San Jose, CA 95113
  • Roy's Station Coffee & Tea - 197 Jackson St, San Jose, CA 95112

The show promises you can "enjoy a free cup of Luke's coffee from 7 a.m. to noon (or while supplies last) and other special touches from the show and surprises from Netflix."

In case you missed it, here's the teaser for the new, four-part mini-series, arriving just in time for the holidays — each part is defined by a different season in a year in the life of Stars Hollow. And here are some shots of the Burbank set (briefly taken over by Pretty Little Liars after Gilmore Girls ended) being dressed for the shoot.
