The recently opened, Viceroy-operated Hotel Zeppelin (545 Post Street) near Union Square will soon be home to a new restaurant from the team that brought you The Brixton in the Marina, and Tenderloin pub Redford. That would be Hat Trick Hospitality, and as Eater reports, the new spot, dubbed Rambler, is set to open in early October.

The rock-and-roll themed hotel doesn't sound like it's going too theme-y with the 100-seat restaurant, which will feature California-inspired cuisine with nod to Italy — with the help of the pizza ovens that once belonged to Wolfgang Puck's famed Postrio, which years ago occupied the lower rear space of the former Hotel Prescott, in what is now the hotel's game-filled lounge.

A rep for the hotel explains that Rambler occupies what was once Postrio's bar/lounge, which had its own street access from Post Street, as well as a mezzanine just above the game room.

Meet the team behind Rambler: a destination for food, drinks, and good times, opening early October 2016.

The chef is Robert Leva formerly of Salt House and Yountville's Redd, and we should know more about the menu soon — the restaurant does already have a website though.

As Eater explains, via designer Lori Yeomans, the space will have "a modern California vibe with gilded light fixtures, geometric screens with exposed brick, factory-style windows, and encaustic tiles." Yeomans previous design work has been for Tyler Florence's Wayfare Tavern, and El Paseo, in which Florence was once involved as well.

And further, the restaurant group's partners, Adam Snyder, Hugo Gamboa, and Andy Wasserman, who also run Aventine downtown and Marina Mexican spot Sabrosa, have signed on to manage the hotel's lobby bar, called Fireside, as well as room service and a 4,000-square-foot event space.
