49ers fullback Bruce Miller, 29, was arrested in San Francisco after an altercation with a 70-year-old man and the man's 29-year-old son, in which Miller allegedly assaulted both men, young and old. Miller was dropped from the Bay Area football team like a bad habit, as the Examiner reported, and now we learn via the Chronicle that Miller was last seen before the incident at Tommy's Joynt, the bar and Hofbrau-stye restaurant, est. 1947, whose succulent meats have driven many to madness.
At 1101 Geary Boulevard, Miller reportedly took a seat at a front table, manager Eddie Martin tells the Chron. He was reportedly ogling the buffet line for 20 minutes before he began arguing with customers. “I believe he wanted their sandwiches,” Martin said, “The guests were great. They were very calm and amused by the situation.”
According to ABC 7's coverage, Miller was alone and arrived at around 11:50 p.m. — god bless the generous hours at Tommy's Joynt. "He did wobble while he was standing, he did lean on a lot of things to keep himself up," Martin told the news channel, speculating that Miller didn't have any money. The player was eventually escorted out of the establishment.
Later, at the Marriott Hotel Fisherman's wharf, his hunger apparently unappeased, Miller encountered the elderly man and his son, seemingly trying to enter their hotel room which he perhaps mistook for his own. Following the altercation, the son and the father were transported to the hospital. Miller was booked on charges of aggravated assault and elder abuse.
