Sherri Franklin had been volunteering in San Francisco animal shelters for several years when she realized there was a need for a different kind of shelter that gave new hope for older rescued dogs, many of whom faced a death sentence as soon as they arrived in any shelter. In the video profile above by Mode.com, Franklin says, "In 2016, we will have saved over 4,000 dogs. That's 4,000 dogs on death row, slated for euthanasia, and I'm really really proud of that."
Muttville Senior Dog Rescue is not the kind of place to visit if you're not allowed to have dogs in your apartment, but it is a sweet place, with a totally open space where the dogs all roam around, amidst the shelter's office work.
