A Fillmore Street pedestrian was hospitalized Monday, after a team of muggers dragged and assaulted him over a backpack.
The 36-year-old male victim was walking down Fillmore Street between Eddy and O'Farrell Streets at 12:30 Monday afternoon when he was approached by two men: one in his 20s, a second in his 60s.
The men, according to the San Francisco Police Department, knocked the pedestrian to the ground and punched him "numerous times" in the head.
The duo then dragged the man down the street, police say, until the victim "let go of his backpack."
Once they had the backpack, the muggers fled on foot in an unknown direction. As of Tuesday morning, they remain at large.
Their victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated for the injuries he sustained in the attack. According to the SFPD, he is expected to survive.
