A male pedestrian was transported to an area hospital Thursday afternoon, after he was struck by a San Francisco Fire Department vehicle as it rushed to an emergency.
According to the Sam Francisco Police Department, a SFFD truck was "responding to an emergency Code 3" at 12:43 Thursday, near the intersection of Sixth and Mission Streets. ("Code 3," in US emergency responder parlance, means that a police/fire/etc vehicle is being operated with its lights flashing and siren blaring.)
Suddenly, police say, a man of as yet undetermined age "jumped out from between two cars and into the path of SFFD truck."
He was struck by the fire vehicle, and suffered head trauma as a result of the collision.
The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, which police say are non-life-threatening. Further details on the circumstances of the collision were not available as of Friday morning.
