With Outside Lands just shy of two weeks away, some of you are likely resting up ahead of the big festival. Many more of you, however, are probably not — this is San Francisco, after all, and you can rest all winter. Regardless of your plans this week, here's a list of fun activities for both the wild and the chill inclined.

TUESDAY, JULY 26

COCKTAIL CLASS: Learn to mix drinks like the pros at this private cocktail class. Taught by Beretta's bar manager, this time around the semi-monthly class focuses on rum and cane spirits (think delicious cachaca) and would be a perfect thing to do solo or on a date. It all goes down in the restaurant/bar's private room, so you'll be sure to get your educational drink on without any distraction. Beretta, 1199 Valencia Street, 7:00 p.m., $85

MID-EAST READING SERIES: See theater in its early stages at this Golden Thread Productions reading series. With works focused on the Middle East, in Those Ills We Have the New Threads Staged Reading Series presents the story of a man dealing with his Iranian family, his interracial marriage, and a pain guru trying to help him determine what his real problems are. Brava Theater, 2781 24th Street, 7:00 p.m., Free

WEDNESDAY, JULY 27

MIME TROUPE: The SF Mime Troupe is a Bay Area legend. Now in its 57th season, the group is diving into the politics of education with their new production of Schooled. Focusing on one woman's efforts to privatize a public school, and one teacher's effort to fight back, the story presents us with questions of just how far we are willing to go for what we believe to be right. Also, the performance is in a park next to Lake Merritt, so even if you aren't paying attention to the show you're going to have a good time. Lakeside Park, 468 Perkins Street, 7:00 p.m. Free (donation encouraged)

THEATER HAPPY HOUR: Want to chat up some theater people while taking a tour of a new theater space (all the while drinking free beer and wine)? Then the CounterPULSE Creative Mixer is for you. Pulling together choreographers and theater techs, this happy hour promises the opportunity to meet people in the industry and to see the new CounterPULSE theater in the light of day. CounterPULSE, 80 Turk Street, 6:00 p.m., Free

THURSDAY, JULY 28

STAND-UP COMEDY: Get your serious laugh on with this serious line up of stand-up comedians. The Setup presents five comedians hailing from all over the country and packs in the laughs. It's raucous, loud, funny, and you can bring beer in the theater. PianoFight, 144 Taylor Street, 7:00 p.m., $15

ROTATING HAMLET: The long sold-out production of Hamlet produced by Shotgun Players is back for a few performances in repertory, and this is your chance to finally see it. This version of the famous play, directed by Mark Jackson, has the performers find out what their role is only minutes before show time — meaning each performance is a completely different Hamlet. (See SFist's review here.) Shotgun Players, 1901 Ashby Avenue, 7:00 p.m., $5 to $42

FRIDAY, JULY 29

QUEER DANCE PARTY: The queer hip hop dance party Swagger Like Us is a legendary Bay Area mainstay (and frequently makes our "best of" lists). With a host of rotating DJ's — featuring LSDXOXO this week — this is a no-joke good time. White Horse Bar, 6551 Telegraph Ave, 9:00 p.m., $10

TODDLER RACES: No, you did not misread that. This Friday you have the chance to watch toddlers race each other on little bicycles. The Strider Cup World Championship pits 2 to 5 year olds against each other in a brutal competition of blood sport. Just kidding. It's a super family friendly race and focuses on love of biking and safety. It should be a really good time for the entire family. Pier 35, 1454 The Embarcadero, 3:00 p.m., $27.37

SATURDAY, JULY 30

IMMERSIVE FAIRY THEATER: Interested in (theatrically) getting down with a bunch of like-minded fairies? Then A Very Fairy Midsummer Soiree is the event for you. The immersive theater piece lets you dress up as your favorite fairy (no nudity! they're not kidding about that) and "embark on your very own QUEST FOR THE GOLDFIRE" in Alamo Square's Westerfeld Mansion. This is an adults only affair, sorry kiddos. William Westerfeld House, 1198 Fulton Street, 6:30 p.m., $55

BIG DISCO PARTY: The inaugural SanFranDisco kicks off this Saturday and promises both 70s throwbacks (Giorgio Morodor!) and nudisco at this dance spectacular. With almost 20 artists performing (including drag legend Juanita More) — both DJs and live bands — this is going to be one serious party. The Midway SF, 900 Marin Street, 9:00 p.m., $25 to $50

SUNDAY, JULY 31

LEATHER FESTIVAL: Ladies and gents (but mostly gents), it's time for the annual Up Your Alley fair. Billed as Folsom Street Fair's "dirty little brother," this leather and BDSM festival promises to be the filthiest gay event in the US — a bold claim which organizers deliver on. Grab your whip, and leave your pants at home. Dore Alley (at Folsom), 11:00 a.m., Free (donations encouraged)

PARK BALLET: Watch the San Francisco Ballet perform free of charge in Stern Grove this Sunday. This is the ballet's only summer performance, and the chance to sit out on a lawn and watch an eclectic program from some of the city's best classic dancers is not to be missed. Stern Grove, 19th Avenue at Sloat, 2:00 p.m., Free
