A cyclist suffered serious injuries Friday afternoon, after she fell from her bike when startled by a turning motorist.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, the crash occurred at 4:05 p.m. Friday, at the intersection of 11th and Howard Streets.

Police say that the cyclist, a 60-year-old woman, was "headed [the] wrong way" as she rode in the bike lane "southbound on 11th St."

She was "startled by vehicle making turn, slams on brakes, is thrown off bicycle, and lands on her face," according to the SFPD report.

When she fell, according to police, she suffered a "severe head injury with brain bleeding."

She was transported to San Francisco General Hospital in serious condition, according to the SFPD. No update on her condition was available as of Monday morning.
