The story of a missing 15-year-old in Vallejo, whom witnesses saw bloodied and being dragged by her hair by a man on Wednesday, has taken another dramatic turn as the man police believe kidnapped her took the CHP on a high-speed chase Thursday that ended with him being fatally shot in Solvang, in Santa Barbara County. As ABC 7 reports, 19-year-old Fernando Castro was spotted in a vehicle that had been caught on surveillance video in Marin County Thursday morning, without abductee Pearl Pinson in the car, heading south on 101. He made it as far as Los Alamos when he was spotted again, and gave chase.

According to KCRA, the situation involving Pearl Pinson's last known whereabouts is pretty scary.

Pearl was last seen around 7 a.m. Wednesday on the pedestrian over-crossing above Interstate 780 that leads from Home Acres to Taylor Avenue in Vallejo, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office said.

A witness told investigators Pearl was being dragged by Castro. Her face was bleeding and she was calling for help, the sheriff’s office said. The witness told investigators that Castro had a gun.

As the witness left the area to get help, the person heard what sounded like a gunshot. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found blood on the ground. However, it is unclear if Pearl was shot.

Castro was spotted after an Amber Alert was issued Thursday morning, and he was driving a 1997 four-door Saturn, pictured above.

Once he crashed his car and was cornered in a Santa Barbara County mobile home park, and after he had already fired a gun at sheriff's deputies, Castro was shot by deputies as he continued to exchange fire with them and was attempting to steal another vehicle. He was found dead inside the vehicle.

The search for Pearl has now expanded to include both Marin and Santa Barbara Counties in addition to Solano County. Pearl's sister Rose Pinson tells ABC 7, "We just want to know where she's at. We want to know where he left her at."

The Solano County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information about her possible whereabouts to call 707-784-1963.
