A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries this morning, after he was struck by two cars while walking on Mission Street.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, the pedestrian, a 33-year-old man, was walking on Mission Street at 12:33 Friday morning.

He then "stepped into traffic" at 20th Street, according to police, and was struck by a driver. The impact was hard enough, police say, that the man was then thrown into the path of a second vehicle, with which he also collided.

The man, who police say was unconscious when they arrived, suffered facial fractures in the incident. He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say.

A call to the SFPD for further details on the collision and an update on the pedestrian's condition was not returned at publication time.
