A gruesome story is developing out of Oakland this afternoon, with reports coming in that a construction worker on a lunch break discovered a headless torso. According to The Mercury News, the body was sighted near Burma Road in West Oakland near a stretch that runs underneath the Bay Bridge. The area is being used as a staging area for workers demolishing the old truss span of the bridge.
The story is developing, and a Chronicle reporter on the scene tweeted that Oakland Police say the body is that of a "young male." Identification will likely be difficult, however, as The Mercury News reports that the body is also missing arms and legs.
This, disturbingly, is not the first torso to make the news this year. Just this past February a fisherman found a female torso near the Dumbarton Bridge.
