All this wind you've been seeing and getting blown around by the last day or so is causing some major headaches for air travelers in and out of SFO. The airport issued a warning Thursday morning saying to expect gusts of up 45 miles per hour and possible delays, and I got a report from a friend that all inbound flight traffic was halted at one point Thursday because winds at SFO were gusting at 60 miles per hour. According to ABC 7, at least one international flight, an Air France flight, had to be diverted to Oakland Airport last night due to the wind.
As of this morning, as KRON 4 reported, average delays hit 66 minutes, with 88 flights delayed in some way, and as of noon the FAA was saying the average is closer to 90 minutes (see tweet below from @lentäminen).
Plan accordingly and check flight statuses if you've got anyone arriving in town today or if you're hoping to fly out.
