Every year I'm pretty impressed with the food and beverage array at Outside Lands, which for all its crowds is still a far more civilized and foodie experience than any other music festival I've ever been to. Now in its ninth year, the fest sees 90 percent of its vendors return year after year, and always features a selection of not just popular food trucks, but booths by some of the better restaurants in the city, including Rich Table and their amazing porcini doughnuts, and several others on the Chron's Top 100. They're now billing themselves as "the world's only gourmet music festival," and it is certainly a very San Francisco affair with a huge and diverse Wine Lands tent, a cheese area called Cheese Lands, and now for the first time, a seafood-centric set of booths dubbed Outside Clams, which will be managed by Woodhouse Fish Co. (In previous years there was Outside Lambs and other themed areas, and this one will feature a raw bar, lobster rolls, baked oysters, clam chowder, and more.)
There will be not one but two vendors slinging wood-fired pizzas to order from trucks: returning vendor Del Popolo, as well as deaf-owned Mission pizza-makers Mozzeria, with their souped up cable-car operation. And newcomers Trestle and Itani Ramen are joining the fun too, along with Fine & Rare, Koja Kitchen, and Belcampo Meat Co.
Magnolia's Dave McLean returns to curate a list of 28 breweries to participate in Beer Lands, which this year includes one-year old Harmonic Brewing from the Dogpatch, and Monk's Kettle will be back serving beer-friendly snacks to go with all that beer.
